In Morocco their fascinating rugs cover the floors and adorn the walls but no two are the same. Travelling through the country reveals a spectrum of different techniques and patterns that are deeply rooted in the tribal traditions. They perform a functional role with the warm thick rugs woven by the tribes from the snow capped Middle Atlas Mountains which contrast with the thin weave of the kilims from the blistering Sahara desert. They also tell stories of the tribes in their designs embedding myths and legends from the past using techniques that have been handed down through the generations. These rugs are all individually crafted and may be slightly asymmetrical in their shape and pattern with some minor imperfections. We love that the more you look at them the more surprises you find alluding to a story from across the world.
